The entire fig is edible, from the thin skin to the red or purplish flesh and the myriad tiny seeds, they can be dried or dehydrated. Always cut off the stem.
I mixed them with Manuka raisins dried apricots and prunes then soak them in the sun with concord grape juice and water equal amounts keep in the refrigerator for breakfast.
